As Pharoah has commanded the death of every male Israelite, God has cast judgment on Egypt and has proclaimed that every firstborn should die in one night. Yet our God is as merciful as He is righteous and offers a substitutionary atonement, if one would pain the doorpost of their home with the blood of an unblemished lamb, they would be spared. So God displays His power, and His intent, to redeem us through the blood.
